Through our BACK 2 M·A·C take back program, M∙A∙C is working to reduce the environmental impact of our packaging by helping to reduce the amount of plastic sent to landfill. Through participating stores and retailers in North America, our BACK 2 M·A·C take back program facilitates our use of recycled materials from returned makeup packaging to create new compacts; what is not recycled is converted to energy, reducing the amount of packaging that ends up directly in landfill.Through recycling and waste-to-energy elements, our BACK 2 M∙A∙C take back program in North America has prevented nearly one million pounds of material from ending up directly in landfills per year, saving 500 tons of energy. Each year in North America, M∙A∙C incorporates over 100,000 pounds of recycled material from packaging returned through BACK 2 M∙A∙C into new compacts, giving old packaging a second life.
